7/2/2017 – Overdue Mountain Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to the Sheep Flats area on the Mt. Rose Highway to search for an overdue mountain biker. The subject had been dropped off in the morning to bike the Tahoe Rim Trail to Tunnel Creek Rd., then down to Tunnel Creek Station. He immediately encountered deep snow which hindered his progress, along with not allowing him to see the trail. He eventually ended up going down the Ophir Creek Trail to Davis Creek, then rode to a gas station on the Mt. Rose Highway where he got a ride to the Galena area. He then rode up the highway to the summit where one of the responding searchers noticed him and picked him up. He was brought to staging for evaluation by medical, but refused any treatment.
