SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to the Vya area on the report of two overdue subjects from Lakeview, Oregon who were overdue from a day trip to either the Massacre Lake area, or the Sheldon Antelope Refuge. As teams were heading north, a Humboldt Deputy located the two subjects in the Sheldon Refuge area, broken down. SAR assets returned to Reno.
SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Winnemucca Dry Lake area on the initial report of a possible plain crash with an ELT activation. This information changed to an EPIRB activation, which is normally associated with a marine vessel. Teams initially attempted to approach the location from the south, through the dry lake bed, but rain and mud prevented the teams from getting to their destination. Another team hiked to the location, but nothing was located.
SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the N. Virginia entrance to Peavine to search for three subjects in a vehicle that was stuck in the mud. Cell phone coordinates were used to locate the subjects on the west side of the mountain. Although stuck, a quick push by three people was all it took to get the vehicle moving back down hill. The subjects were escorted down to Long Valley Road where they were met by SAR Staff.
