Recent EMS Search – 3/4/2014

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Sheeps Flat area to search for an injured back-country skier on the northwest side of Relay Ridge.  As SAR teams were arriving at staging, RAVEN was able to locate the subject and perform a hoist.  He was transported to the staging area and transferred to a waiting ambulance.

Recent Search/EMS – 3/3/2014

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the parking area on the Mt. Rose Highway for access to Tamarack Lake to search for two subjects with an injured dog.  One of the dog’s rear legs had been severely cut by a ski.  The GPS coordinates provided by the owner of the dog were putting them in a totally incorrect area, since they gave the location as Proletariat Bowl (east of Tamarack Peak).  The owner had told the 911 operator that the dog could not walk, they could not carry him, and they would not leave the dog behind.  Just as ground teams were leaving staging, the owners skied down to the highway, carrying the dog.  SAR personnel provided medical attention, and he was transported to a veterinarian in Reno.

Recent Search – 2/5/2014

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR  were requested to assist WCSO Deputies in searching for a missing Alzheimer subject in the area of Mohawk Lane, off of N. Virginia, who had last been seen at about 1630hrs.  Some teams had been deployed when the subject was located by a responding SAR member near the intersection of Lemmon Drive and N. Virginia.  He was evaluated by REMSA and transported to a hospital.
