8/21/2017 – Stranded Motorist

SAR Staff and SVU responded to the Jumbo Grade area to locate and rescue a stranded motorist. The subject was following his GPS, heading to Jumbo Falls to see the scenery in his rental Hyundai Sonata, when the road became impassable and his car became hopelessly stuck. He was able to get cell phone reception and called 911. Due to roads being washed out in the area, it took a bit of work, but a search team was able to locate the subject and transport him back to staging. He declined any medical assistance and was given a ride to the hotel he was staying at while in Reno.

8/15/2017 – Evidence Search

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the area of Leon Drive to assist WCSO Detectives in locating evidence from three shootings that occurred the previous night.

8/13/2017 – Overturned PWC

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to Pyramid Lake on the report of an overturned PWC with one person in the water with a PFD in the area of Sand Hole Beach. As teams were responding, a PLPD officer entered the water an swam to the subject approximately 200 yards off shore, but were fighting the wind and waves. Before teams arrived, the subject and officer made it safely back to shore. SAR response was cancelled.

8/12/2017 – Stranded/Lost Subject

SAR Staff and SVU responded to an area west of Argosy Rd., off of Red Rock Rd. to search for a subject whose side x side had become disabled. The subject had been walking for three hours in order to get cell phone reception and was very disoriented as to where he was located. Using coordinates supplied by the subject’s phone, a search team located the subject and his dog. They were transported back to staging at Bird Springs Rd. and Red Rock Rd., and although he was scratched up from walking through brush in the dark, he refused medical. Both the subject and his dog were taken to his residence by SAR staff.

8/4/2017 – Tahoe Rim Trail EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to Diamond Peak for a subject that had taken a fall from a bike on the Tahoe Rim Trail. As teams were en route, NLTFPD and Care Flight made contact with the subject. SAR response was cancelled.
