10/18/2016 – Lost Hikers

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Davis Creek Park area to search for two lost hikers. The subjects had left Spooner Summit earlier in the day with the intention of hiking to Tunnel Creek Station, but became lost in the area of Red House. Initial phone pings placed the subjects just above the fire station at Bowers Mansion, so foot teams were sent to check that location. When nothing was located, ATV’s were sent to the Lakeview subdivision access point for the road to the Red House area. A second set of coordinates were located in the dispatched call, so between these new coordinates and the verbal description from the subjects, they were located on the Pipeline Road, also known as the Tanks Road. Both subjects were cold so extra jackets and blankets were supplied for the transport out to staging.

Ground teams were dispatched to Warrior Point to keep a visual reference on the subject, while M10 and M20 were launched. Just after M10 was launched, the wind died down enough to allow the paddle boarder to make it to shore. Meanwhile, the Pyramid Lake SAR boat, which had started to respond earlier, had electrical issues and was in need of a tow from approximately three miles out from Pelican Point. M10 initiated the tow and safely brought the PLSAR boat to the dock.
