7/30/2016 – Pyramid Lake Fire Evacuation

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the lookout area above the intersection of SR445/446 to prepare for evacuations of Sutcliffe and surrounding beaches due to a fast moving brush fire. Due to extremely erratic fire behavior, it was deemed unsafe for SAR personnel to conduct evacuations.

7/29/2016 – Overturned Boat at Pyramid Lake

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU responded to Pyramid Lake to locate a possible overturned boat in the area of Sand Hole Beach. As more information was learned, the overturned boat was possibly a group of three large rafts that went missing from a beach the previous day. The Pyramid Lake SAR boat was first to leave the dock, but was redirected to a boat in distress that needed a tow. Marine 10 went to the location and found three large towable rafts tied together approximately one mile off shore. The rafts were deflated and brought on board.

7/28/2016 – Fire Evacuations

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the area of Frontier Rd. and Red Rock Rd. to assist with fire evacuation notices in the area of Rancho Haven. Lightning during the afternoon and evening had started numerous fires that threatened houses in the area. Although thousands of acres were burned, no structures were lost.
