11/17/2015 – Sick Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Garson Rd. entrance to Hunter Lake to locate a hiker that had become too ill to continue his trek. He and his father had started from the Mt. Rose Summit trailhead on Saturday, but the son had become ill Monday evening. RAVEN was able to locate the father, who had walked to a location to get cell service. They then guided ground teams to the area. Regular 4×4’s were not able to drive the whole way to the coordinates, so ATV’s and Side x Sides were used to transport medics to the subject, who was approximately eleven miles, road distance, from staging. Medics stabilized the patient, and everyone was transported back down to staging.
