SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR assisted WCSO Deputies in searching for a missing Alzheimer’s subject in the Joy Lake Rd. area off the Mt. Rose Highway. SAR Staff, Hasty Team, NLTFPD, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Mt. Rose Summit parking lot on a report of a female hiker who was having severe abdominal pains. The subject had reached the Mt. Rose summit with a large group of school children on a fieldtrip. SAR personnel were with the group as hiking chaperones and observed the subject having pain in her abdominal area at that time, but she felt that she could make it back to the parking lot. By the time they reached the area of the waterfall, the pain was too severe, and the subject was vomiting. Teams were sent in from the parking lot entrance, as well as being transported via the Relay Ridge Road to a location where they could access the trail from the west. Due to the location of the subject and the severity of the pain, it was decided to have RAVEN perform a hoist and transport her to a waiting ambulance.
SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR assisted Washoe County Deputies in searching for a missing Alzheimer’s subject in the Pleasant Valley area. The subject had not been seen since 7:00p.m. the previous evening, and the previous night’s temperature had dropped close to freezing. As teams were beginning their assignments, RAVEN spotted the subject walking in a canal, just southwest of Andrew Lane. Deputies quickly reached the location of the subject who appeared to be in good shape. She was handed over to REMSA for a medical evaluation.
SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to Tunnel Creek Road to search for a lost 16yo subject that went for a run, starting at the Tahoe Meadows entrance to the Rim Trail, intending to take a route through the Diamond Peak Ski Resort. Due to darkness, the subject missed the turn and ended up in an unfamiliar area. Search teams were able to locate the subject using her description of geographic objects that she could see from her location. She was given warm clothing and escorted to waiting vehicles for the ride down to staging at the old Ponderosa Ranch.
SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to a report of a missing hiker on the Brown’s Creek Trail. As teams were arriving at staging, it was learned that the subject had become separated from her hiking partner but decided to visit a friend’s house in the area instead of notifying anyone.
