11/16/2017 – River Rescue

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to Larkin Drive in Sparks to begin searching for a possible subject in the Truckee River. While driving on Interstate 80, a citizen had spotted a kayak on the shore, then saw what he believed to be a person holding onto some debris in the river. Sparks FD checked the area, but found nothing, nor did Storey County Deputies. TMFPD personnel were then called and located the kayak, which turned out to be a kayak that had been on the shore for a couple of months. To be cautious, Hasty Team personnel floated the river down to Lockwood, and WCSAR foot searchers checked the banks. Nothing was located.
